The purpose of the USF chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council is:

• To serve as the governing body and coordinating body for all member organizations.
• To deal with matters of mutual concern as well as a focus on the black community.
• To support and encourage high academic accomplishments.
• To correlate programs and activities designed to meet the needs of membership organizations.
• To make every available effort to create Greek unity and harmony through the promotion of trust, respect, and teamwork between each member organization.

Currently the USF chapter of the NPHC is comprised of nine fraternities and sororities:

• The Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc*
• The Theta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
• The Zeta Xi Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
• The Theta Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc
• The Zeta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. 
• The Kappa Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.*
• The Upsilon Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
• The Alpha Eta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. *
• The Zeta Delta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc
